The bisector of segment [AB] is the line perpendicular to this segment in its middle I.

Draw the circle C1 with center A and radius R such as : R > AB/2

Draw the circle C2 of center B and the same radius

The two circles intersect at I and J
(IJ) is the mediator of segment [AB]



III°) Characteristic property.
 
The bisector of a segment is the set of points equidistant from the ends of this segment.

For every point M of the mediator, we have MA = MB

Conversely:
If we know that MA = MB, we can say that M is the mediator of [AB].
